Running a business from abroad ?
« on: July 26, 2015, 09:11:55 pm »
Would it be possible to run a window cleaning business ( renting out work ) from an EU country ?            I am thinking of the practicalities at the moment, but would like opinions on the pro's and con's ?

Thanks you

I think it would be more hassle than it's worth if you're employing or renting the work out.

It could work if your business model was franchising though... You could visit the UK once or twice a month just to make sure everything was going OK...

It would be a case of finding reliable people I could count on, I have family here, and in spain and there is no work in Spain but have chance of a cheap property there with lots of land  ;D

Why do that and go through lots of hassle Samson, just learn from this guy and you can trade from any part of the world with just a lap top. :

Mod note:  Hasti, please don't post that link again.  No further warnings.

There is loads of work in Spain, just look at the amount of glass curtains in all the apartment blocks and they don't know how to clean them properly, clean it up springs to mind its wide open over there.

Maybe you need just one person who knows the ropes who you can trust to run it for you - either as a working on the glass manager or a non-cleaning part-timer who has other work..  This assumes that  paying a wage to a non-cleaning manager would be too big a drain on resources.

I didn't say it was easy i said they don't know how to clean glass properly, so for anyone that dose and wants to have a business over there they would clean up as people will always be happier paying for proper results.

Take a page out of the book of a resident merchant. While you are away in Spain you will not have total control over your business and when things go wrong you might have to fly home to fix it. Unfortunately Our merchant  could not come home to stop the thieving because the holiday camp he was in did not allow this so he lost out a few thousand squids.
