Qualitywindowcleaners.co.uk scam?
« on: July 31, 2015, 09:47:51 am »
What the hell is this?
It seems without my knowledge I have been signed up to it.
Just had someone ring asking for a quote and said to me 'according to your website it's 20% off the first clean'.  I didn't know what she was on about as I don't do offers and she quoted qualitywindowcleaners.co.uk. She thought it was my website.
Nobody has contacted me from the website, I never knew I was on it and they are offering discounts on my behalf without my permission.
Surely this is illegal.
Has anyone else had this?

I've had a quick look at the site and I can't see how anyone can register/advertise on it.
Maybe another cleaner gave your details to them for a laugh who knows ???

Best you contact them directly to find out what is going on.

I found the registration page which it seems is £24 for a six month advert plus extra cost if you want to advertise in other areas.

Maybe the guy that runs the site just added a few himself to make out window cleaners were actualy paying to advertise on the site the cheeky devil  ;D

The Quality Window Cleaner network is free for basic membership and there is a paid option if you want more than one profile/area page. Referrals go direct to the member via their profile page unless someone emails us direct, in which case we pass on their details direct to the member who covers their area.

The requirement for members to provide a 20% discount off the first clean is one of the ways we try to help generate a new customer for you. This is clearly stated in our terms of membership.

Mr Brookes, with regards to your membership, your membership application was received on the 5th May 2014. Details are as follows..

From: G.Brookes@BrookesAndSonsWindowcleaning.co.uk ()
Date: 5 May 2014 19:05:03 BST
To: qwc-application@qualitywindowcleaners.co.uk
Subject: qwc-application

Below is the result of your feedback form.  It was submitted by
(G.Brookes@BrookesAndSonsWindowcleaning.co.uk) on Monday, May 5, 2014 at 19:05:03

if you want a copy of the full application I can send it to you.

If you wish your membership to be cancelled please send us an email and I will remove your listing from the website.  The QWC website is purely to help members generate new leads and I assure you is not a scam.

Kind regards - M. Henderson

Not being funny but who in their right mind is going to pay for a directory listing thesedays then have to offer a 20% discount on a first clean?

Also most cleaners will charge more for a first clean not less surely?

If you want my honest opinion paid directory listing are a total waste of time and yours doesn't even show up on the first page of google for my area. If you do manage to get an enquiry through all you will get is mostly the types that want work done cheap and they are not the custom most cleaners are wanting on their books anyhow.

Just my thoughts you understand but fair play to you for wanting to help cleaners out at a small cost.

As I mentioned... basic membership is free and members get a full web page designed to promote their company. This page could be the main location that you wish to get enquiries from.

The Quality Window Cleaners network was set up to promote high quality professional window cleaning companies and that is why we have a comprehensive application form. The QWC website is not a simple business directory, it is a promotional website that uses discount vouchers and other incentives to generate customer leads for members.

The service exists for those who want to use it as another promotional tool that members can use.

Not all locations come up in the search results because we do not yet cover all areas of the UK, but there are many that do, particularly with search terms that include the keywords 'local window cleaners (location)' and 'quality window cleaner (location)' but also some that include 'professional window cleaner (location)' or simply 'window cleaner (location')

examples: 'window cleaner Macclesfield'  - 'local window cleaner Portsmouth' - There are many others and more locations available waiting to be developed.

By the way, the option to charge more than your standard clean for a first 'deep' clean is in our terms and conditions, as long the customer is made aware of this when the window cleaner inspects the property. QWC do not stipulate a price that the member should charge as this can vary from company to company. We simply provide a customer with the discount voucher option if the customer wants to use it. The member quotes their own price as usual.

I hope this make things a little clearer.

Full terms and conditions of membership can be found here.
