vsrbon/sediment pre-filter
« on: July 30, 2015, 10:59:48 pm »
http://gardinerpolesystems.co.uk/all-products/pure-water-systems/water-treatment/sediment-carbon-filters/fibredyne-cfb-plus-sediment-carbon-pre-filter-20.html

I have two individual pre-filter housings .
1x carbon
1x sediment

I'm wondering if I could buy 2 of these and bang 1 in each housing .

Or you could just use a single filter housing and leave the other empty. As its also a sediment filter in that it traps sediment over 5 microns, the first filter could become 'blocked' before the second filter has completed its service life.

I use those same 20" Fiberdyne carbon block filters, but we continue to use a sediment filter as before. Our water is full of sediment. Its better now but last year I was replacing a sediment filter each month to a Fiberdyne filter every 3 months on average.

Good advice guys , my water is 250-300 .
So I'll buy a sediment one for one housing and this for the second .

Better than a empty canister

Why are you changing the pre filters you have ?
I worked out that by using the pre filter above it would be cheaper to just replace my 4040 membrane every 2 years
so unless you are getting extremely short life from your membranes I wouldn't change anything.

I don't change them that often , think they say every 3 months , but I'm probably every 6months . Just thought this type is a lot better .

I will but x2 and put both in .
But will do in a few weeks as had a lot to buy recently .
New reel , pole holders , new resin etc .

Also could do with a new 22/25ft Pole , probably buy gardiners slx .

If anyone is using two pre filters you might as well just use 5 micron carbon filters. WHen you change filters, discard the first one, move the second to the number one slot, and put your new one in as the second. In a similar fashion to alternating a twin DI set up.
