The swb has around 750 payload so prob get a 400 litre in there depending on weight of other equipment, the Maxi has a 1000kg payload so would possibly manage a 650 tank, although this would be tight weight wise if it were for a 2 man set up. I used to have the Maxi which was a good van but the turning circle was dire.

I actually had it as a second van and didn't get round to putting a tank in it as circumstances changed, I just used containers in it as I had a 650 tank in my transit. You would be tight on  payload for a 2 man 650 system, you would have to factor in weight of 2 men, diesel, cage, tank, plus equipment

To give some rounded out experience ...

I had the old Doblo - 736kg payload - 1.3 multijet diesel. It was fine for one man with a 400L.

The new (2010) - swb 750kg is a bit bigger physically and the lwb at 1000kg better again. You could happily go 500/650 for one man but ... for two man I think even the 1000kg it is on it's limit with a 650L. You will occasionally be over if you are not very careful if you add ladders, cones, full tank of fuel etc.

I struggled with my 1.3 old doblo for six months (when I went two man) with a 400L and pulling a trailer with 200L in it and it coped but was far from ideal.

I believe that if you are going two man then a 650L is the minimum and 800 is better if you have much commercial.  It is better to have three seats at the front for "junk" and paperwork and hi viz and "stuff".

If it's a husband wife team like Tosh then the 1000kg Doblo would do the job but I would go for the bigger engine. If it's two blokes working all day then get a Scudo/Transit size with a 1200kg if you can.

For me - I have a Hyundai iload with 1065kg payload - but it's meatier than the Doblo's and heaver engineered - and that was on the limit with two up (Dan the Man is a big lad!) and a 650L.
It's a game of three halves!

the doblo maxi is the one to go for dont bother with the swb,

in the maxi your poles will fit in without cutting holes in the bulkhead, a 600l tank is fine as it has 1000kg payload, I used to have one and it was excellent, I had mine set up as a 1 man but occasional 2 man,

I wouldn't bother with a permanent 2 man set up as 1 man per van is by far more profitable

There is only enough room in there for a one man set-up.

have you ever used a doblo maxi? there is plenty of room in there for 2 hose reels,

picture of my old van inside at one point, 600l tank the van took it just fine

for a most of the time one man with the occasional 2 man then the doblo maxi does an excellant job, but if you are after a permanent 2 man set up with 2 men working out of the van every day then you need a larger van with minimum 1200kg payload, but then it does all depend on your round. what works for some may not work for others

Scribble, what is the pole hose please. Do you use that instead on mini or micro bore hose?
