Average credit rating? This is open to interpretation.

If you haven't a good credit rating,  forget leasing.  People incorrectly believe that there aren't credit checks done on a lease vehicle. Believe me, they were stricter than other forms of finance as the finance house has more to loose if you default early into the lease.

Each time you apply for a lease and the finance house rejects you because of a poor credit rating it will make your credit score even worse.

Leasing attracts people as it is an easier way financially to getting into a new vehicle - low deposit and balloon payment at the end of the contract.

You may be better financing it, but you will be hit with a higher interest rate.
