Am i Staining Customers rough cast walls?
« on: July 05, 2015, 09:59:37 pm »
Lost 7 or 8 customers in same street after one old lady pointed out that the stains under her window were being caused by the window cleaner. Been cleaning these houses for 18 years and 6 years on W.F.P
How do I win the trust of these customers back and convince them that the poles aren't responsible for the stains? ???

The water doesn't cause any stains. What it does is wash away build up of muck and dirt that was already there. So the area looks lighter or streakier than the surrounding render.

Usually looks worse when the render has never been painted..

Most people who never paint render don't worry about the colour of the render. Anyone that does and points it out I wouldn't bother to clean for to be honest.

It's a game of three halves!

So it has taken 24 years for a batty old lady to now complain about wall stains. That's not bad going if I say so myself as surely they should paint the house walls now and then or at least have them cleaned?

Some people do make me laugh as wfp is harmless to walls  ;D

If you add Vision to your water it'll make a difference.

If you strangle the old biddy it'll also make a difference.

Whether or not cleaning windows with WFP is leaving marks on your customers walls, natural weathering also causes marks and differentiating between what we may cause and what is caused by natural weathering is more often than not impossible. Unfortunately some customers seem to think that their new pvcu window frames/cladding or newly painted rendering should stay pristine much longer than experience tells us that it will, and are too ready to blame us when it starts to get dirty. There's often not much we can do but be reasonable and hope they will be too. But if they don't, all we can do is move on. It is unfortunate that the old lady in your case has 'spread the word.' Many of us have had similar experiences. You're not alone.
