For those who employ PAYE..?
« on: July 02, 2015, 05:47:31 pm »
Hello All,

For those who employ PAYE...

What do you do on rainy days... Those days when it is just too wet to work?

We work in light to moderate rain, but not heavy heavy rain.

You could put him on a zero hour contract and send him home with no pay if your that way inclined ?

or get him out delivering leaflets / door knocking / chasing debts

We just pay the day and then they "catch up the hours" so all our full time guys are on guaranteed hours contract - so if its too wet, and there is nothing else for them to do (which is unusual for odd days) we just pay them, but they then "owe" the hours and catch it up over the following few weeks if needed.
Never argue with an idiot, they will only bring you down to their level, and beat you with experience

I have one employee who has been full time since January 11th. We haven't lost a day since then. The odd 1/2 hour sat out and one day when we went out quoting and leafleting as the van was off the road.

Try & have a few gutter jobs kept back for rainy days but unless it is torrential you can still work. The areas where older people are at home avoid. The new estates where they are all usually at work are the areas to switch to when the rain gets a bit heavy so no complaints/ turned away.
