Water Pressure Boosters for R/O Set Up
« on: June 21, 2015, 11:07:07 am »
Hello everyone
I have started a separate thread, about my very slow purified water production. As I suspected, it seems I need to splash out on a water pressure booster. Can anyone recommend a Booster which is suitable for the job? And ideally that works out at decent value for money too? I am pretty sure plenty of you are using Booster Pumps; how do you rate your make and model?
Thank you all from Steven  ;D

Depends. What sort of R.O.

Have you got 4040 or bulk standard 300 per day jobbie?

I just used a second hand 100 psi Sureflo pump I picked up cheap, a 12v 10amp power supply and a cheap PWM controller (to control the flow rate) I found on eBay. You won't be able to run it flat out, hence the flow controller. I just turn the flow control down till the pressure switch stops activating. I don't know if this is the best way but it works for me.

Clarke 240e from machine mart. About 300 quid. gives me about 250 litres an hour at a 60 waste 40 pure ratio.
It also has a safety cut out if water stops so it doesnt burn out.

I don't use a booster pump with 50 psi water pressure, but I would say that the 240e is too big for a 300 GPD r/o.

To be honest I would rather spend the money on a 4040 HF5 membrane than mess about with little booster pumps.

Yes it'll cost a bit more, but eventually you'll probably be needing more water than the 300gpd can supply (even with a booster) so why faff about? Just get what you know you need and be done with it. It's all tax deductible remember.

In my mind, there is nothing like the feeling of having exactly what you need to get the job done with no messing around. It clears your brain to think about more important things, like growing the business.
