Hey Guys,
I'm in middle of a Builders clean, against the clock, scaffolding coming down very soon, got the call last minute even tho its a regular client.
Problem: Walls have been re-rendered and plasterers have got their top coat all over big windows.
I can not remove it. Tried scraper, fresh blades every time, tried scraping both wet & dry. Scraper takes top surface off but nothing else.
Have tried scourer, nothing. Tried scourer with Scrollex or what ever its called UPVC restorer.  Either way its an Acetate & thought that would not remove it, didn't touch it!  That was all I had in van at time.
Anyway apparently this stuff (top Coat) is Silicone based and a plasterer friend said if its not washed off immediately your screwed.
contractors no longer on site so cant ask them, although will try to get site foreman on phone to them tomorrow.
Has anybody had this problem? Has any one got any advice or solution? Or any recommendation of any product I can buy quickly to remove this stuff?

Do a test with brick cleaning acid this is what we use on render , we clean 50 + plots per week and have done since the 80s

ps. its not the render thats on the glass, its like hardened silicone liquid. Think its a waterproofing stuff the Rendering gang have used.

sounds like uni bond acid will not remove this

Christ, be careful using brick acid - I'd rather walk away than play with that stuff.

If silicone based might be worth trying 'silicone eater' could do enough to soften it up

Hello mate, r u familiar with the small metal scrapers with blades similar to the old wilkinson sword razor blades, these will remove it, you will have to keep wetting up and going over with the blade, can work a full window down in no time, these are not the unger types I don't recommend them at all

I would be careful using a scourer or abrasive materials, when you look out the window on an angle you will be able to see all the scratches left behind, and the same with brick acid, if your going to use it on the frames be careful not to get it on the glass, if you don't remove it, it will leave a stain behind

Solvent cleaner also may help, it's about £3 a litre from double glazing gaffs
