Gutter clearing and sealing, cleaning an awning - the sun is shining and it's not actually too bad for a Sunday! :)

That's strange... They're perfectly fine on my screen?? Uploading photos has never been straight forward for me so I'm not surprised! :)

No need to clean the gutters.  The muck will just drop out like that.

Hi Tom,
If you don't mind me asking, what does it cost to rent  a cherry picker like that a day? - it looks as though you have a driver as well.

Hi Spruce

It was £350 +VAT. So £420 all in, with driver operator.

Same rate on Sundays if needed as well as weekdays. We had to do today as all the shops underneath are closed on Sundays so prettying had an empty car park.

Thanks. Does this mean that you can operate the controls in the 'basket' without a licence?

I don't think so....

This one was operated from the truck, with my guy in the basket doing the work.  I was watching and taking pictures, and swept up a bit. My colleague used to be a roofer so he loved it up there!

Swept up a bit?     You mean slept a bit (like normal)    :)

Technically anyone can operate a MEWP (cherry pickers, scissor lifts etc...) & you can operate them from the basket or from the ground (its a safety feature in case you get stuck up there!)
These days though, no one will touch you with a barge pole if you haven't got your Ipaf (or equivalent) the rental companies ask for your license details when you book one, and most wont let you rent one without.
Apparently ipaf are trying to push  machines that only work when you scan your card on a little scanner, doubt it'll happen though

We did use a gutter vac. I went along vaccing most of it up but we were also clearing all the moss that had accumulated behind the guards which stops debris falling from the roof into the gutters. Also we sealed the entire run of guttering so needed to be up there.
