I've had an SLX 25 for a while now, it's been great, I'm going to buy  an upgrade, the extreme costs a fair bit more, for those of you that have had (or have) both, would you say the extra expense is money well spent?

I agree. I had mine 3 month before I broke it pushing a window shut. I know I shouldn't have .
I sold the pole to bobplum who replaced the section and loves the pole.
We are different but if you rush or are a bit heavy handed like me, I would stick slx.
That said I will buy another for over 35' at height it's got to be the only pole

I find Extremes great for everyday use but at the shorter lengths say 18' there's not much point in the extra expense.

Definately. The Extremes are very versatile ( you can even mix with an SLX I believe) - stick an extension pack on to whatever height you want. Once you've got over the initial shock of paying  for the pole, they can be relatively cheap in the long run as usually the top two or three sections wear out the fastest - just buy these when needed.

I've had my extreme 18 for a month or so now, and it hasn't worn even the tiniest bit.

It's the best pole that money can buy in my opinion. I've previously used an slx 25 and clx 18, now it's a real pain having to use them instead of the extreme.

I will be buying an extreme 25 very soon.

If you are heavy handed and don't want to spend the 15 mins at the end of every week washing the pole out and cleaning, then stick with slx.

But if you want to use the best pole out there, and are happy to maintain your equipment, then you will love the extreme.

Also if you have any aches or pains at the end of your working day, you really should switch to extremes.

I really don't get how people keep breaking them , my extreme 25 is just over a year old now and i have shut windows with it , clean it out once every few months and its still ticking along nicely ......starting to wear a little but still clamps fine .

im not exactly a light touch either ..............are you guys pole vaulting over gates or something?

Out of curiosity has anyone worn out a new extreme with metal clamping bands?

I struggle to see how it is going to wear. You are clamping onto metal. Mayb the clamp will will wear, but that is a cheap fix.

Mine is wearing on the underside of the shaft where the pole rubs the clamp when it's whizzed out. The clamping points haven't worn at all.

Slx up to 30 so you can bash windows, after that definitely an extreme. Extreme 44 is good for knocking seagulls off of rooftops when they've settled down from launching an all out attack on wfp'ers.

As tony says i have his extreme 22 and love it, i shut windows, dropped it a few times, use it everyday wouldn't hesitate to buy another and yes you can add sections on to it from the slx range i did this today to give me  a 30 ft reach.
I like the  metal clamping positions.
If i was to buy another i would probably go for the 25 ft as i feel you will get to 99% of all your domestic work

i love the extremes and i think their pretty robust for an ultralight pole esp now they have the metal clamping bands.i dont care if i have to replace the 25 footer every 2 years.money well spent for an every day pole IMO.

Agree 100%.

It's taken me 10 years to realise though. Lol. Wish I'd bought extremes from the start.

Worse case scenario is that you replace one or two sections per year. So less than £20 a month for the lightest and most rigid pole out there.

I've used the extreme since its launch, the weight is noticeably lighter but the biggest difference by a long way is the rigidity.  I am faster with the xtreme without a doubt.   I'd say the cost is worth it.

I'm not too sure how people manage to break it. I've always felt uneasy about closing stiff windows with any pole.  If I feel I'm putting on too much pressure and the window won't close then the window stays open.  In the past people were bending alloy poles  trying to close windows.

I would say it is worth the extra expense (but I have elbows problems, now getting better).
It comes into its own when doing awkward windows over connies etc. The rigidity is where you will see the real difference. I use extreme brushes with my 25 extreme pole and it's really quick. It does feel more fragile than the slx but I haven't broken mine yet, although I am quite careful. I shall be getting the extra poles to take mine to 35 foot.
The only way you will know is to get one and try it. You can always flog it again.

Best pole by miles if your going to have to close a window with it turn it round the other way and push them shut with the end cap or base section you'll have a job snapping it then
