can you screw into speed liner?
« on: April 03, 2015, 10:33:09 pm »
Hi. I'm looking at getting a new van soon, hopefully. I've never really spent much money on a van and I've always just went the protectakote route, however I'm hoping to go new or nearly new and want to spend a bit more money on a more permanent and professional job.

I like to have my hose reels fixed into the van, so is it possible to screw into speed liner or would I be better off putting the speed liner on top of ply lining then screwing into the ply lining through the speed liner? Thanks in advance guys

I wouldn't screw  through it at all to be honest. It defeats the purpose, as you would have now made a breach in your waterproof layer.

What you could do is get a thin ply wood board and mount your reel ontop of that. You could just paint the ply the same colour as your floor and you won't even notice it's there, but you will have kept your flooring in tact.

My van has speedliner with the option to have the reel mounted in or out.
You can run a thin clear mastic sealer around fixing if you want to make it water tight.

Yes, of course you can. But make sure you put a blanket down first to avoid scuffing the knees.

best thing to do is speak to your speedliner dealer , we have had around 12 vans done now and wouldn't use anything else

most speedliner dealers are clued up so you need to tell them what you need
