Relay Battery
« on: March 07, 2015, 08:25:41 am »
Hi There I got some really useful information on getting a leisure battery frim the forum.  I was running 2 pumps off van battery, which meant I had to keep the van running all day as not to run the battery down.  Have the leisure battery and the relay kit and frankly I am not an electrician and it looks far to complicated for me to set up.  Does anyone know the right kind of skilled person that could set this up.  Kink the van battery to the leisure battery, so it charges when we are driving but does allows the pumps to feed off the leisure battery.  Thanks in advance  Jack

What spit charge relay have you got?

There are 2 types;

an intelligent or voltage sensing relay (VSR) which is self switching and is simplier to connect up'

and an ordinary SCR that requires a 'trigger' wire from the van's alternator or ignition switch to activate the relay.

Iv mentioned this before but just buy the flow controller with inbuilt battery charging facility from pure freedom.
You don't need to be a rocket scientist to set it up, took me an hour and I'm no spruce or Albert Einstein, the instructions are simple and it does the job perfectly. Well worth £90, I havnt bench charged my battery in over a year.
