I like the look of them fans darran they look mint..

I've got a set of blue lurmark mark ones in the van will the blue part unscrew from the metal body there in??? Like the look of those elbows you attached.

The blue ones will screw into the elbows.  I find this setup snags less it tight places as well looking neat and tidy

Darran I have to agree I have been using fans for donkeys years and they work much better than pencils far superior rinse without the use of ten tons of water...

I've been using the gardiner newer wide fans and they are just not as good as they used to be more like pencils (used to use the old porcelain style ones that were prone to crack) can I ask where you got yours from and the JG fitting??

The current wide fanjets should be just the same as they always have been. Any chance of a photo being emailed to me ( alex@agardiner.co.uk) of the fan spray pattern you are getting - could be a faulty set?

Alex I'll get it over to you this week but they are more pencil than fans as the hole is very wide...

i have the red fans and i love them, i only started reusing them a few days ago as theres something nice about the hissing and steam from the hot water

Looking at the pictures and describing drilling etc may put some people off trying fans. I got a brush fitted with fans about 6 months ago, i loved them. (yeah, Gardiners) so on my next order i got two types of fans, clear ones and wide red ones ? To change my brushes with pencils jets in over to fans all i did was knock the brass pencil jets out with a pointy screw driver and push the fans in with my thumbs and they're fine. Unless i'm missing something there's no need for allsorts of drilling and JG fittings?

Yes if you use the gardiner " fan jets " they are a straight swap over from the brass pencil jets however these fans are rather poor in getting a decent arc of spray so you won't achieve consistant results of using the blue or black fans

as said, alex has done these jets but they are fan, come pencil hybrid that doesn't really do either that well

 I like to hear how other fellow window cleaners tinker and innovate and feel they've come up with a decent set-up. Thanks for sharing!! I've messed around with fans myself in the past, but didn't find the ideal partnership. Might give it another go.

sorry to raise this agin. I have ordered all the bits you suggested and the last parts arrived today. I am going to use an old brush head as a trial. Just curious as to how the jet sits still in the head.. Do you glue it in place or leave it to sit naturally?

I drill the brush head with an 11.8mm drill, this usually gives a good tight fit where the jet can be pushed in, I do usually glue them as well just to avoid it turning

yep got one of them on order.. No one seems to stock an 11.8mm drill bit so waiting for it to come.. I am drilling into a Gardiners sill brush at moment as thats really all we use so see how it goes. Will glue as well.
