Im seriously thinking of getting set up ready ,   a few silly questions ,
im thinking of getting a pump + controller all fitted upon a plate from pure freedom,

its all wired up,     what would be the best connectors to add onto the wires to connect it to the leisure battery, any links for them.
been using backpack for a couple of years now,   it suits me.     But i want to put all gear togeather now and use a small tank  for me to get seriously used to this main system.    Then transfer to van when ready.

im a bit weary about all this hose coming from van when i just wheel backpack around.     use of a tank will mean less filling up of backpack .      Tank better for bigger jobs near van,

i better start spending some money to get some receipts to lower my income in accounts,  ive bought nothing since April

What would be my best leisure battery,   ill look into them tomorrow.

Are they just the same as using a backpack,     Charging them up as and when needed, and connecting back upto pump+controller.

Is there a small meter which can show strengh of battery,  so you will know it has enough life for your days work.

its like starting over again.

took me long enough to learn how to get pure water right.  but thats straight forward now.

I use the Pure Freedom plate as it's nice and simple for me. I just bought a 110 or 100 leisure battery on ebay. The smaller ones don't last as long. The bigger ones seem to last about a year. I currently have two through buying a second one when I mistakenly thought the first one was dying and have one charging while the other one is in use.

The controller on the plate will show you how much charge is left, but as the battery gets older it discharges more quickly so that information isn't always helpful.

The Controller will display battery volts at any time. The controller also has a low battery cut off. If battery volts fall below 10.5V the control will shut of the pump.  The controls do have an over ride of this feature See link below

Would agree the 110AH is going to give you more work time.  On average with a controller you are drawing around 3 - 4 amps an hour. Most battery manufacturer suggest not taking the battery below 10V on a regular basis as you can damage the battery cells.
As the pump draw amps the voltage will fall but not a t the same rate. For example you could work 4 - 5 hours and not see voltage change much. However you have used approx 20 amps in that time. over the next couple hours working voltage may fall away a little then drop off quickly.

no , don't use croc clips, get some of these

yes they are fine, if you can see in the picture, there are two screws, undo them , strip enough of the wire to loop around one of the screws and tighten them both up.
croc clips are dodgy, they can get knocked off and short out. Think it was fin from clearview had an issue with croc clips only a week or so ago, nearly burnt his van to the ground but stopped it in time !
remember to fit an inline fuse too.

If you are able, leave your battery in the van and shove a charger on it overnight ( extension cable to plug socket). I've had my leisure battery for 4yrs now and still going strong (fingers crossed after that comment 😄) I charge up every other day regardless. . Also, get yourself a decent charger, Ring are an excellent make and also give you the percentage of charge left in the battery.
I think you'll find that there is an inline  fuse fitted with a controller.

A fuse kit is supplied, A fuse should be fitted as close to the battery as possible to give protection to the cable and controller. For this reason we do not pre fit the fuse but supply the kit.
   Why then place the fuse close to the battery?

To reduce the risk of over heating in either the cable or device in the event of an electrical fault. The shorter distance current can travel between the battery and fuse means that the amount of cable that may get overheated is reduced to a minimum. For Example: It is possible the the insulation on the red (positive) cable can become chaffed allowing the core or poorly installed cable to come into contact with the chassis creating a fault condition . Without a fuse fitted close to the battery the wire will heat to red hot, burn off all the insulation and potentially cause a fire. Fitting a fuse close to the battery protects the cable run plus control and pump.

just seen on e.bay,   selling inline fuse connector,      when you see an item you know exactly how it works.    £3   free del.      just add a higher fuse,   when your not using these items yet , its a bit weary untill you can see how there set-up.         .i was like this when i was finding out how to set up to do pure water,    all the different parts of equipment to get ,   it just comes naturally now.

this will be the same when i get a van set-up,    hopefully to start in the new year.

going to get all the items i need,

it wont seem as so much if buying all togeather,

pump
controller
battery,
battery charger
water tank tap,

ill purify water at home + transfer into water tank.
 ive got the tank
