Who uses pure freedom 4040 ro
« on: September 18, 2014, 09:21:14 pm »
I can never get my tds down below 30-35 even with a new hf5 membrane.
Its the ro where it either flushes or pures, i cant adjust it 60/40 50/50 70/30 etc it simply is what it is and i believe this is the reason why my tds won go lower than 30??
I have a booster pump but there is no way to adjust the boost due to the valve not being able to adjust the pressure going in.
If anyone knows what im on about or has the same problem you help would be gold to me.
Hopefully someone can shed me some light to help me out??

Can you not change the valve mate?
Rather than open closed, change to an adjustable?

Is it as simple as that to change to an adjustable valve?? If so can i just go to a plumbing wholesalers to get 1?
If so would that help bringing my tds down?? Id have thought it will allowing more pressure in.
Im not too clued up on these 4040's. I was a merlin man for years which did it all for me but i had better tds from that than this poxy 4040.

Do you not have a "waste gate" valve on the waste side of the RO for flushing ? Basically a brass stop valve with red handle you open to flush or close for pure ??

I have a valve but it can only flush all the way to the right and pure when all the way to the left. The is no adjustment that can be made, im goint to take off the valve thats on there and replace with 1 that can adjust.
Im just hoping that will help bring tds down.

If you can't adjust the psi using the valve for the booster pump you need a new valve.

Easy mike.
Go down the plumbers and buy a ball valve or waste gate valve 1/2 inch and screw it on the waste side of the membrane. By slowly closing this valve it will create back pressure in the 4040 lowering your Tds, keep shutting the valve until your at the lowest Tds you can get and that's where to run your ro on filling up.

Without controlling your waste your reading will remain high.

Thanks rob.
