WHItE MAGIN MARKS 😳
« on: September 10, 2014, 01:53:45 pm »
These white frosty marks that I get going across the bottom of the glass only on a couple of jobs but look terrible when the sun hits the glass. I've put my arm out of the window and wiped it with a scrim and it comes off but doesn't with the brush head. Anyone else get this and can you remove it with a certain brush head. I've tried the stiff cill Gardiners brush no good, I've used the unger brush no good. It's gotta be slight lime scale I'd say that runs across only the bottom of the glass any ideas as I have a job at 55 ft with window coming to the groud but you can't reach them to scrim off as there's no access to get to them only by wfp.

All  comments appreciated in advance and just wondering if anyone else gets this problem

Danny

Dunelm mill do a mop with a microfibre cloth. I slot this into the top of my gardiners poll and it clamps in.

Sounds cheap and nasty but does actually work ! Then rub it across the affected area

I have had this with certain windows over the years. Generally it is from the leaching of either oxidised paint from the frames or minerals from the masonry/render above the window. These are then suspended in the rain water that washes down the building and as this water runs down the window the water is evaporated off  towards the bottom of the pane of glass and then leaves behind the leached white marks on the lower part of the glass.

How to get them off? Using a stiff bristled brush or a mono-filament bristle is not the best option to scrub this away. Ideally a flocked brush should be used as these soft ends will act like a microfibre to scrub the white marks off.

Alternatively if this did not work you could try using the abrasive pad on the Super-Scraper which should remove it - http://www.gardinerpolesystems.co.uk/acatalog/SUPER_SCRAPER.html

Alex is spot on.

I have a few on my rounds,

The gardiners black flockd brush gets them off,

But at the minute I've found the tecbuk hybrid is the best brush to get the marks off. It does it with relative easy because the bristles splay out so well it almost gives the effect of rubbing it with a microfibre.

A spray of virosol diluted 1-10 on your brush head also does it. (Bit too much of a pain at 55 feet though.)
