Matt, as well as the leaflet design you need to get yourself organised on printing and distribution.   I've gone through this and, IMO, the leaflet design is not the biggest problem you face.

What numbers are you talking about as "big"?  The reason I ask is that you might want to consider non-local printers for the best deal if you're having enough done.

Additionally, how are you plannig to have them distributed?  I know from experience that getting loads of leaflets out is much, much harder than getting a few out there.  Have you organised or priced anyone up?

The design is the only thing that is still being decided, How about some Instant Karma vin?

My costs on this would be:
50,000 leaflets = £480 print only (A5 single side)
£28 per thousand delivered (to areas of your choosing; VERY IMPORTANT) = £1,400
Total for print and delivery £1,880

From this I would expect:
0.25% customer calls = 200 custys
Averaging £18 per house = £3,600
Including SFG cleans 15 houses at £100 each (extra) = £1,500
Total income approx £5,100.

Obviously depends on time of year etc etc.

I would expect to lose about 20% of this work over the year (natural wastage and I get fed up with time wasters!)

As for the design, that's the clever bit. Why not get yourself a graphic designer to do them for you? Give them the problem, that's what they should do. £200 should sort it.

£28 per 1000 seems very cheap, not been quoted anywhere near that. I have spoken to a couple of leaflet delivery co's who are significantly more than that AND said it would take MONTHS to distribute that amount. Jogpost would do the lot in 5 hours apparently but would charge £2500 + VAT

£28 per thousand is a local company near me. It's even cheaper if you let them do the printing as well.
They tell me which areas they are in and when and I can choose any of the areas I wish. I can tell where they deliver by the calls I get.
