Bigger slice of the cake...

Should 'The Tender Process' separate window cleaning from office cleaning services? Opening up more opportunity for window cleaning only companies and letting those companies get a bigger slice of the cake?

concept

We do a contract that was tendered as a general cleaning package, office cleaning, window cleaning etc, and the firm just don't do them, so they have come to an agreement that we are paid direct, not sub-contracted through the cleaning firm.

Most of these cleaning firms, aside from the nationals such as Mitie, are just not geared up for window cleaning it seems. The windows on this site were not touched apart from on reception, with mr muscle!

So I guess short answer would be yes.

I agree with concept, I've been too many commercial sites, to find that the cleaning contractor has "never" cleaned the windows, maybe sometimes the reception area, or the managers office glass.

But the real problem seems to be that the person paid to sort out the contract is usually a lazy office wallah that can't be asked to chase up the contractor or make the extra effort and split general cleaning from window cleaning.

The company loses out as they don't get a window clean that's paid for ( even if underpriced ) window cleaners lose out as the work goes to the bigger contractor.

The contractor wins as they get paid to clean and simply don't

This is one reason why the quotes are so low for this work, as the contractor has very little intension to clean, said office wallah pays no attention to what's going on, thus contractor happy collecting cash without providing a service
