Fao Matt Bateman re:- transit custom
« on: March 28, 2014, 08:35:32 am »
Hi Matt
Just wondering how you like your Transit?
I am getting  a new Van in November and was looking at a Vivaro,  but it's so horribly Ugly (the new shape)  that theres no way I'm driving round in that.
I was looking more closely at a transit custom Limited and realised how good it looks, in terms of equipment, cab storage, integral ladders,  payload etc
So,  what do you think?

It's a great piece of kit. I've got a 650 fitted tank, GrippaMax.

Drives like a car. Can't knock anything about it really. Fuel could be a bit better but I was used to a Combo beforehand which knocked out over 40 to the gallon.

I keep a two stage ladder in the back for garages etc. also have a fold-down roof rack, which are pricey but great for when you don't need the rack; which we use for the triple stage gutter work we do.

I'd highly recommend.

I've  got an astra van at the mo but 350 Ltr tank is limiting,  space at a premium and 3 seats would be nice.
I thought  I was defo going to go for a vivaro but am seriously considering the Transit now.
Thanks for the reply

I'm looking to fit roller guides near the back doors on a Transit custom,  so wondered if anyone can tell me,  is the spare wheel stored at the back underneath by the rear bumper?

No Lee. It's a afford fitted rack so it's them you'd need to speak to.

If I want to bolt a tank frame to the floor,  is there easy access underneath the Transit or is there a lot of faffing about?
