Really need to buy a booster pump as my 4040 is that slow it's unbelievable  I went to buy the Clarke cbm 240 yesterday from machine mark and they told me there just a posh transfer pump and a booster pump has to have one of the little tank things on them to boost  ???

I've came to the conclusion many years ago that some sales people 'aren't fit for purpose'. So when an assistant half heartly asks if he/she can help me, my usual reply is that 'I'm beyond help'.

June from GAPS water recommends

If you do an advanced window cleaning search on this forum under booster pumps you will find dozens of useful posts and pictures. Most of them are pump only. There is one post where a cleaner returned his tank unit as it didn't work.

A drop off in water production is usually an issue with prefilters blocking - definitely this is so in our case. Our sediment filter needs changing once a month, sometimes sooner. We process between 25,000 to 30,000 litres of water a month.

Ok thanks spruce ro was working great then we moved house and it's un unusable now it's a hf5 membrane so I thought it would still work with low water pressure  :'(

Our water pressure is between 40 and 50 psi and we operate a 4040 with an HF5 membrane without a booster pump. The issue associated with low pressure is also flow rate. (Pressure and flow are different.)  If the pipe is heavily calcified, or has some other restriction, then performance is going to be a problem as these units need a good flow of water.

On flush mode our water flow through the system is about 13 litres per minute through the prefilters when new, but I don't know what it is directly out of the tap though.

Even although the town we live in has had new piping, water pressure and flow are very different throughout the residential areas. We live at the end of a water main ring on our estate, so our pressure is less than our neighbours behind us who are on a larger main ring.

I always assumed my outside tap had good water pressure, as visually when the tap was opened fully that seemed to be the case. I never actually bothered checking the psi with a pressure gauge.
My previous RO had a booster pump attached so I never needed to worry but thought all was good anyway.
It was only when I bought a 4040 last year that the gauge on the pre-filter was showing a reading of only 40 psi.
I always assumed it  was better than that.  ::)roll
So I purchased a Clarke booster pump...........from Machine Mart?! and now achieve 100 psi and a good production rate.

June at Gaps Water (whom I trust to know her onions) told me under no circumstance to buy one with a tank. It was four years ago; as I can't remember what I had for dinner yesterday, it's no surprise that I can't remember the reason but she was adamant.
