price rises.....update
« on: March 12, 2014, 06:13:17 pm »
so another day of price rises.

£10 job up to £15

£12 job up to £15

3 x £15 jobs up to £16

some other work(commercial and £20 houses im leaving for the time being)

no problems really.had to explain the reason for the £5 price rise to the old woman(underpriced).most work around her house are £20 ers(7 of them at £20 each very compact).she was fine about it in the end!apparently the neighbours say shes the richest woman in the street!!still didnt stop her pulling a sour face until i got her laughing after a 5 min chat! ;)

still only one cancellation but ive got another 2 and a half weeks worth of work to put up yet!! ::)roll ;D

Been putting mine up gradually over the last month, first time since I went self employed (5 years ago) - a lot of underpriced work on my round, some still underpriced but a little bit better.  Lost one in December, oddly one I thought would be okay - so far (touch wood) no one else has left, although I have had a few sour faces myself.

Good luck with the rest of it!

Makes me laugh when customers pull a sour  face, i think some would be happy

if you never ever put them up again, yet you get the old man or dear that give you

extra each time, and say to me, "its about time  the prices went up "   :D

i have some work that is over priced,  but loads that are under priced, they will

be going up this year,  just preparing myself for the winging.    ::)roll       john.

im finding most customers ok really.

some though forget that over the last 4 or 5 years ive spent ££££££ on wfp equipment.always clean their frames, wash doors down and clean the awkward windows that never used to get cleaned before.

im much more reliable and my attitude has changed dramatically compared to years ago.the cost of living has certainly gone up in the last few years as well.

i think the bugbear with a few is that im faster than i was on ladders and charge them more but they get a better more thorough job?

im sure some would like me to spend twice as long on their windows and get up a ladder!! ::)roll ;D

I have not put prices up on the work i brought 3 years ago all changed from trad to wfp over the first year with not to many problems really,im thinking its time for a price increase 50p for anything under a tenner £1 anything over £10 and the bigger jobs on an individual bases.

How have people gone about increasing do you just tell them when there done if there in or just on the slip you leave if they are out.
Tell them they are going up the clean before.
Whats the best way ?

Thanks

the way i do it darren is tell them from next clean itll be X amount more.i wouldnt bother with 50p.a quid is about right but ive put a fair few up a fiver with no cancellations!!

sometimes customers are hard to gauge.some wont bat an eyelid at a couple of quid or a fiver and some will cancel over 50p! ::)roll ;D

Putting my domestic work up at the moment. Its been 5 years and had no probs. a lot have said about time lol . But we should all remember that going over to  reach and wash has given us a pay rise in a way .

true kurt but running costs using wfp compared to ladders is a lot higher over the course of the year plus end of the day jobs purifying water, maintaining poles etc.

commercial job going up £5 today,a few domestics £1 and £2.
