On a 63 plate does anyone know of any faults with the bigger more powerful engine on a Transit?
Would prefer 85 psi engine. Thanks

As h2o suggests the only prob i know of us the DMF. Most people i know got the conversion to the solid flywheel once the DMF packed in...
I think (not 100%) that the transits under 100ps are solids anyway, but the payloads are lower...
Try the transit forum mate, might be more helpful on tranny vans

Only heard good things about the dispatch you mentioned on another thread...pretty solid apparently...
To be fair, ive got a tranny, 06 plate, 40k on clock.
Sprayed under the floor, chassis, wheel arches etc with some waxy oil stuff to hopefully prevent rust, so hopefully should be ok for a while....

IF op is buying a 13 plate transit, he can drive it how he wishes tho. Abuse the van and the "known issues" will pop up.

H2O : to be honest ive not read up on them or anything, mate of mines a mechanic and only has good stories. Saying that, he (and the others at the garage) say stay as far away from vivarro's as you can but people rave about them on here...
I know a few mates who drive vans, and a couple of mechanic mates and the general consensus is get a vw but they cost...
Guess its a case if treat it well, and it'll treat you well...
Go thing with trannys is they are cheap to fix and parts easy accessible...

Ive got one ste, mine is the MWB and its the limited edition one, fantastic van mate and i used to have the 85 ps and that was a bit sluggish, the 125 is much much better

There isn't really much differences between the engines, it's just different injectors, and on the on the 140ps they have a variable vane turbo.

The earlier transits suffered from piston failure due to over fueling, but this has been sorted with a PCM update.

There aren't any major problems with the transits, but like and diesel, they will suffer from injector problems and EGR problems eventually.

also all mk7 transits have DMF, and again with those they will fail, but they and last 30k or 150K.

Whenever you read of someone that has had problems after very low miles are always the minority. I've got a mk7 transit on 90K and it's been fine.

I personally would go for a 115/125ps, the extra power would make the drivability of the van nice and they are also 6 speed.

The transits have a timing chain.

Yes DMF is dual mass fly wheel.
