Gardiner Quick Release Shut-Off Couplings
« on: January 03, 2014, 05:54:29 pm »
Hi lads

I'm thinking of changing from the Rectus 21's to either Rectus 26 or the Gardiner Quick Release Shut-Off Coupling, as shown here:
http://www.gardinerpolesystems.co.uk/acatalog/Quick-Release-Shut-Off-Coupling-with-6mm-Hose-Barb-QRM_SO_COUPLING_6MM.html

As this involves changing couplings for the reel hoze (where I have a PF butterfly tap on an 8mm tail and Rectus 21 male) and the quick release for 4 poles I'm keen to make the right decision first time.

Am I right in thinking that the Gardiner items are basically just high quality garden hose (i.e Hozelock) only in metal?

Who has experiences of both the 26s and the Gardiners, or to be honest one or the other?

Any feedback appreciated.

Cheers

Carl

try the ones from Aquadapter, light, cheaper, no leaks

the gardiners connectors are top quality , i use them for my connecting length from hose reel to van and for my van ports for water in and waste .

probably a bit heavy for use to connect pole hose to reel hose in my opinion.

They are compatible with hose lock but you have to pull back the collar connect where a hozelock can be just pushed in.

They don't leak like standard hozelock fittings.

i use ez snap for pole hose to reel hose.

Thanks.

I've tried the EZ snap and want something that lasts longer. I find both Rectus 21 and the EZ snap leak or simply won't connect far too quickly. I do replace the male and females at the same time AND I have protectaballs on both hoses.

Anyone else any feedback?

i have only just started using ez snap so will let you know , they seem quite sturdy though.

i have used rectus 26 for the last year and have never replaced the first set , only just starting to get a bit sticky to disconnect.

Thats without using protecta balls.

I'm giving the ez snap a go as they are smaller and lighter .

EZ snap are usless i assume you have quite a few spares of tap bodys and etc . So what i have done is the brass barbed fitting on your ez snap tap body which you have your main hose attached to .

I have one on each end of the tap body one end for main hose as normal , Then with the pole hose simply push fit it over barb on the opposite end and when your pole hose becomes twisted simply pull pole hose off de-tangle and push fit back on .

Got fed up with replacing fittings every few months , I have used above method for about 6 months now and have never looked back so easy and simple and no leaks . Mike

Never thought of this. Mind you, you'll lose a lot of water from the pole hose every disconnect...
