It's bloody horrid out there
« on: December 19, 2013, 01:44:24 pm »
Most of you guys who read my posts know I don't clean in anything more than light rain - my custies don't like it, and frankly neither do I.

Thu and Fri last week were horrid and yesterday was horrendous; the rain was horizontal at 45 mph all day, until it got bad at 5;30 and brought a tree down on our power lines.

Luckily I build in 'wet' days and they fell Thu, Fri and y'day  :) which was lucky.

I was out in it today though. I've just finished and it's sleeting really hard. I've got loads of work tomorrow, Sat and Mon, and again between Xmas and New Year, so this forecasted cr appy weather is going to cost me dear if it stays as is.

I find the weather the single biggest challenge in the job.

agree the weather has made it impossible to plan my last working week before xmas shut down. I am getting messed about now with cancellations due to weather and then last minute chancers hoping I can drop everything and fit them in, yeah right and its dark by 4 ! nature of the job, sod it all by dusk tomorrow I am on holiday time til new year , what doesn't get done will just have to wait until I resume in 2014 .
Happy xmas everyone  :D

They might not moan, but that doesn't mean they like it. I've plenty of retired custies and no matter what you tell 'em about wfp and TDS of rainwater they don't like it. Best to price so you don't have to work in weather you don't want to.  ;)

I wish I'd have video's the weather here yesterday. I live on a main road, set back 50 feet. The spray off the road was amazing and combined with the rain. I live on a smallholding 900 feet up and am out in all weather dealing with livestock and I've rarely seen it as bad as yesterday  :o

I used to have the same attitude Carl but not for the last few years.I work in most weather apart from very strong winds.

Customers don't even mention the weather most of the time!

I get paid

Keep my round roughly up to date

And I will be having the best part of 2 weeks off this xmas! ;D

More money earned over the course of the year

Happy days
price higher/work harder!

I have a few custies I have to call but I only one tonight. She said "It's forecast rain for tomorrow. Last time you came the windows were dirty again after two days". I said we'd see how it goes tomorrow weather wise. If it's anything less than moderate rain i'll be out.

Can't say I blame them. I was going to video the weather here yesterday and post it up on YouTube for you lads who clean in "any" weather to see. If you'd have turned up at my house wanting to clean my windows and get paid for it I'd have told you to do one - by the time you'd have rinsed off they would have been dirty again with spray from the road. It reminded me of a tropical storm I was in in Hong Kong, I kid you not.

The upshot is it depends where your customers' houses are situated - a nice quiet cul-de-sac is different to that on a main road.
