Best for hot
« on: December 01, 2013, 11:11:22 pm »
Hi , what's the best connector to the hose reel so it doesn't leak .
And best hose from heater to the reel .

I've used washing machine - no good - pops off
General hose - no good

ATM I use wilkinsons braided hose , it's good , stays on .

So I'm more wanting a better reel connector , my brass one leaks a little

Hate leaks

Think dezmond uses radiator hose ???

Cheers guys

kempy i bought a metre of 1/2 inch car radiator hose from local car spares shop(a fiver).i have a gardiner QR female hoselock that goes into a 1/2 inch screw thread brass male hoselock thats screwed directly onto the hot outlet thread.on the other end connected to my reel i have a rectus 26 female connector.

ptfe all the threads,2 jubilee clips on either end on hose and i have  leak free connections with hose that easily handles the heat.

ive tried the washing machine hose and boiler metal braided hose.both rubbish and leaked.

i leave hose reel in van so a metre of radiator hose was perfect.

hope this helps

very best wishes

No leaks but water didn't get very warm,

I stop water between windows and heater turns off and doesn't get chance to get hot.

Tried burners on full and water on half way(full switches heater off)and on summer setting,

Winter setting wont work, tried various settings but burners just spluttering badly.

Never spent much time on it, too busy but will play about till its working over next couple days.

Seems good though am well happy just a bit of tinkering to do ;D

anyone got suggestions to save me time would be great

many thanks

Mike

Do you have the "anmeny" heater?

Mine is from left to right;

Gas on minimum
Summer setting
Water flow on full

Lots of mistakes made their that we all learned from. It's a good forum that. :) make sure your water flow on the boiler is opened right up. That sorts any niggles usually.
