cleaned your windows today
« on: November 28, 2013, 06:44:08 pm »
Need to advertise better, and have been thinking about advertising the carpet cleaning business that my wife runs. Normally, we use "post it" notes with "Your windows have been cleaned today" on them, and call back when the custies are home to collect where we must.
I looked on the German net for similar notes, but A6 size. WOW! Bl00dy expensive. Around 100 quid for 50!!!  :o

Has anyone got a good deal with a UK printers that I can contact? Thanks in advance

My wife does compliment slips for me on her computer. Has my business name and contact details at the top, then a space underneath, which is where I write "windows cleaned today, thanks" :)

My wife prints them off on the home computer,

A4 Size cut into slips 2" x 4" Approx, HELLO YOUR WINDOWS HAVE BEEN CLEANED TODAY £........ THANKYOU TONY & SAM. Followed by phone number

Then what I do is use my scraper to just nip back the black sill around the edge of the glass & place the ticket between the glass & sill,  I tend to do this when I've finished the back so that the customer knows iv been to the back.....saves them asking .....Have You Done The Back?...... If its fronts only just pop through letter box. No need for sticky bits of paper that may come unstuck and blow away.

Hi Cozy

We print ours out and just pop them through the letter box. How do things work in Germany post wise?

For us to stick a "post it" note on a door would advertise to the public that no one was at home. I'm not sure I would like to take the responsibility of a resulting burglary. But then there wouldn’t be an issue inside the army bases I would think.

I see that a local wheelie bin cleaning service sticks a “post it” note on the bin advising of it’s clean – but I would see that differently.
Ours show date, and cost, and that we usually collect on Friday evenings. If they owe from a previous clean we have space to write that.

They are small, but we haven’t had much issue with customer not getting them/throwing them away with the rest of the junk mail.
We get 10 from a A4 sheet of paper – a fellow window cleaner gets his printed at a local printers, about 4 to an A4 page.

Already done that mate, but most of the Brits (Soldiers) here have letter boxes, not ltter slips in the doors. Most only check their post once a week lol!! Looks like I'll either have to pay a fortune, or stick to what I'm doing. Thanks for the tips lads.

Tony, all the work for Brits here is on UPVC windows without exception. Thanks for the idea though mate.

Why not print your own... and then use a prit stick or something similar to stick it to the door??

What Cozy is saying is that the houses don't have letter boxes - they have a post box which will be on the base somewhere.

We had the same thing in Johannesburg. There was no mail delivery service. On moving into the area we applied for a PO Box number and we collected our mail from the building all of these where situated at.

Our house was about half a mile away across the otherside of the motorway from this where our PO Boxes were. You also couldn't post anything into the post box - it would have to go through the mail system with a postage stamp. We didn't collect our post everyday.

In Cozy's case he would have a resort to some form of sticky note that his customer would see when he/she enters the front door.

http://www.staples.co.uk/envelopes-labels-mailing/labels/address-labels

most printer software will allow you to print 'windows cleaned today' on these saving you writing time and very sticky for those upvc doors cozy!

Security? Not sure you understand where I work mate. Thanks anyway.

The address labels are a bit over kill Kent, I think they'd be hard to remove from the frame, but thanks for the idea. Going to try the Prit stick idea from Hectoid.
