how do i find out mine?iv been asked for it for a large commercial job.

You'll only have one if your a limited company. When you registered you'll have received a certificate of registration, it's on there.

Alternatively ask your accountant.

Is it for a building site ?
as it will be your tax ref number they wnat and will take 30% of the invoice !

Wardlo , are you referring to a CIS number , if so you could be exempt depending on what your doing and where your working !

Would be surprised if it was company reg number, but if your not registered just tell them your self employed, it shouldn't make any differece which business format you have

Why would it be surprising? I've been asked for my company registration number numerous times by commercial customers. Completely standard.

I'd agree about it not being a problem if he is self employed though.

me too - they also want to know my health and safety officer. Standard stuff for big building companies before they put you on their payroll. Just speak to them and explain. They will also ask for risk assessment and method statements.
