Daz, getting on topic...
I said you'd have a few tweeting problems re gas use.
It's all part of the fun.
Turn the heat right down, flow right up and use your varistream to control flow.
Don't warm your hose through by recirculating the water into your tank.
Once you're a few bottles in you'll have it sorted.
I use 13kg to heat between 5k-6k litres of water.
I work to 'just about steaming' at the brush. Don't have a thermometer so don't know what temperature.
Chin up Daz. And think how nice it'll be working with warm hoses in winter.

Are you sure it is empty ,I thought mine was but it was the safety feature not allowing it to light.
Does your heater have a reset button like the fog wash?

Surely in the long term it would pay to buy a hot system that runs off your vans diesel?

won't be enough if you have  a hot water tank at home! no more hot water for your house for a while and not enough hot water in your tank!

They cost a lot more to run that's the thing.

Mayb £5 a day in diesel, and they are supposed to have a yearly service too, (igniters changed etc) some charge £400 per service.

I'm on my second winter with an meny heater. £90. About £2 a day on LPG. I'll stick with this way untill a better/cheaper diesel heater is brought out.

I'd imagine watching Dezmond in action there is just a cloud of HOT STEAM around him .
Lower your settings , don't crack glass , 30 is enough

Ben where you living in the dark ages .in the 21st century there's something called  a combi boiler . It gives you unlimited and instant hot water . Just think about it no more having to share the bath water with the wife and kids .phone a local plumber I'm sure he will be happy to install one for you .i am assuming you have electric connected to your house . ;D

back to work this morning after family commitments yesterday.im gonna turn the temp down to min.just enough to warm the hose and luke warm at brush end.no returning hose to tank to heat the hose up first and see how i go on.

i must admit i love having hot water.the 2 main benefits for me is manageable warm hose.great in this cold weather and defo easier to clean birdmuck, snailtrails and general dirt off the frames.dirt rinses off quicker and dries quicker.

some problems ive had during previous winters with cold wfp is jets freezing, hose on the ground freezing and unheated porches/conservatories freezing.

im hoping that ill avoid these issues with hot water and even thaw out any ice on unheated windows just enough to be able to clean them properly.

i tried using the hot tap to fill my barrels a few years ago but the hose connector just kept sliding off my tap.plus ive got a water tank in my flat so i would only have a bath full of hot water so no good for me.i didnt like the idea of drilling a hole in my tank for immersion heater.diesel system too expensive so i opted for gas heater. ;D

I don't use hot water, so forgive me it this is incorrect, wouldn't hot water on cold unheated porches freeze quicker than cold water?

I've heard this theory before but I honestly think its a myth.

I've had two winters with a hot wash and I've never found that.

Often I have to melt off ice first off connys and then I can clean as normal with the hot water, surely if hot froze quicker then that wouldn't be possible.

No.
Steam would freeze quicker.
Warm water (cause that's all we're actually using regardless if anyone says warm/hot/tepid/scalding/boiling) has to cool down before it freezes so technically takes marginally longer.

Well  I have seen people trying to melt ice off windscreens with kettles of boiling water and the water freezes instantly, I think it's something to do with the rate of evaporation, hot water evaporates quicker therefore the water mass reduces significantly so less water remains on the glass so freezes quicker, I do remember trading cold porches and connies hot water in the bucket for them was a definate no no ended up scraping the glass.
