Round organising for best turnover

Its been a busy year and my round has become a bit unorganised so im going to get it organised over the winter month.


Whats the best way to have it set up?

as one big circuit so you start the next day where you finished the previous day

or

just have each day worked out so the work is close together as possible

I personally have a round for each day ie, day 1, day 2, day 3 and so on as i find its easier to plan and maximize each days potential, and i can then see at a glance which days i can build on and which days are totally full.

Just the way i do it.

When do you do work that is not done on day 1 ? first thing day two or saturday if your in a different area on day two its wasted travel time isn't it

mine are all in the same area apart from about 4 days of the month so thats not really a problem.
 My days are done to a way that i know i can finish them in that day as i have timed all my jobs and logged into WCP so i just look at each day and know it takes me so many hours to complete all the jobs. It also helps me when people ring up for extra's like say a Cons roof i will look on wcp and see straight away what day i can fit it in.
Obviously bad weather, breakdowns etc come into it but that wouldn't make a difference if you have just a long list of jobs or done as above you still have to go back to where you last finished.

Pretty much the same as p1 everyday is a different village or area of village days are worked out so it can be done on the shortest days of the year ie.. 8am to 3.15pm

For days that are cut short due to rain we usually allocate one van to do catch up while everyone else continues to do scheduled work

Scheduling work into areas and days and sticking to them ( we work rigid 4 and 8 wky ) new customer cleans are done ASAP then scheduled into the round so the next clean maybe 4 weeks and 3 days or 6 weeks but thereafter always 4 weeks assuming this is the service undertaken ( no sliding to 5 or 6 )

fro the new year i am trying to see if i can do all my work in 16 days, ie 4 days a week for 4 weeks, then this will allow more flexibility and more time off, it may mean getting rid of a couple of days work
In effect i work a weekly round on a monthly basis

I think paul from GEORGE says you should just have one round, were practical so the days follow on.
I personally find having rounds a lot easier to picture it all mentally

i find having one big round far easier! and u can easily sort things out in route order

I have mine in areas, when I finish a area I start the next.what does not get done rolls on to the next week.I try to get all work done on a monthly basis.

I do my round in reverse alphabetical order .

All the numbers 1's   Followed by 2's. Etc....

I work similar to you.   Plus I know which lads are faster.   I got one guy who paying his son to help him.  So I give them twice as much as the Son Cleans the bottom and Father cleans the top and I did have a lad who was slowest thing in the world but he just left and I knew he would as his heart was not in it as he came from working in a Call Centre and returned to Call Centre job.    Which is one thing I could NEVER do again!

Anyway my round works as per following
Twice a month we start at 3am to do Shop Window Cleaning and till finish
Normal day is 7.30am start till finish round.   
If it been raining or delay I send the Father & Son to catch up and while other 2 lads carry on as normal.
Appointment Jobs will be carried out as per appointment for obvious reasons. 

Anybody who has finished rounds then can start Next day non appointment work.  But if its like they finished at 4pm then I just let them finish for day if they want.    But I like to be ahead of schedule so if anything happens means I not playing catch up!
