Gardiners EZ Snap hose connectors
« on: June 08, 2013, 12:02:30 am »
Hey all

I bought one of the Gardiner EZ Snap end stop hose connectors with the appropriate pole hose barb.  This was the beginning of April.  Yesterday the bugger started leaking all over me leg and even with the hot, sunny weather it was still a pain in the backside.  I even changed the pole hose barb and it still leaked.

I am using a ball protector on the end of the pole hose and I am pretty careful about not dragging it all over the place.  Does anyone else use these and, if so, how long are they lasting? I would have thought they would last a bit longer at £5.45 plus VAT or am I expecting too much?

Thanks in advance

Tom

That's pretty good going, 2 months. Time to spend £8.00 on another one. £1.00 a week, s'fine!

Mine lasts about 4-5 months it is recommended that you change the male and female connector at the same time to ensure a good connection .

Seriously considering aquadapter fitting , I never buy the protector balls as they only last about 2 weeks either use practice golf balls from Tesco .

But i prefer dogs foam play balls 3 for £1 form asda one ball lasts about 5-6 months . Mike

We used to have problems with these, dragging them on the floor wears them out quickly.

I have found putting a 6-8 inch sleeve of 8mm hose over the pole hose and maybe  one over the reel hose either side of the EZ connecter and held in place with a zip tie works much better than those balls for protection plus it does not catch on everything as much.

Our connectors last much longer now.

Huh, I've been using mine for two years  ???

Although I've noticed quite a bit of water is now coming out of the EZ Snap female when it's ejected.
