Days lost last year everyones average!
« on: March 26, 2013, 05:42:16 pm »
Anyone have a count up of the days they lost last year, due to weather?

Nothing else just weather, cos obviously everyone has illness and breakdowns etc.

Think im at 40 something?! EEEEEKKKK

Really if im running a proper business, which i am, i should make a note and then average out over the years and charge more for a day rate with that taken into account.  :o :o :o

you should base all your earnings on a 40 week year, this allows for holidays, sickness and time off (especially if you have staff), then you wont be far off, decide what you need to earn per year per staff and divide by 40 - its quite scary

I agree, when i was in financial services ( for 20 years or so) we used to work our business plan out over 46/48 weeks due to holidays and sickness etc (no weather problems obviously) that way you would try and get ahead of yourself.
My tax year starts 1st of April (normal tax year 5th April) so i will do myself a business plan for the year and do a similar thing - probs over less weeks for the reasons mentioned in previous posts.

Well down on last year.

Last Jan Feb & March 2012 where my best 3 months of the year, then it's been all down hill ever since.

Lost none  :o :o fair play!

So really if you take a 40 week year - times 5 days a week - 200 hundred workable days a year?!

I know that seems like slcaking but when you actually work it out - as Alf Stewart used to say CRICKEY

it is scarey when you work it out, but it only leaves 12 weeks left, of which 2 weeks are bank hols, 4 weeks min hols (for staff), now youre only left 6 weeks for what usually turns out to be odd days for illness, van or tools breakdown, bad weather, if you are lucky and dont get any of these breakdowns etc youre on a bonus,
