old leaded windows
« on: March 23, 2013, 09:55:04 am »
Done a first clean on a house with old leaded windows (one with small individual panes) with wfp but a some were leaking into the inside from lead and tops of frames. Now can clean some of this house with wfp but most has to be done by hand. First time doing these kind of leaded windows would like to know what would be best/fastest was, was thinking big microfiber cloth as squeegee could take ages?? What you think?

Hey. If wfp leads to leaks inside, I use lidels w5 glass cleaner with 2 microfibre cloths. This liquid is so good it hardly needs buffing at all Never any smears. Cheap as chips too. Hope it helps.

That's what I do. Worked fine. Condensation is a pain though.

Hey... Yes I have tried it but the problem this time of year is that it if you only use pure water in a spray bottle it takes ages to evaporate, so buffing takes a lot longer. With the w5 glass cleaner it evaporates really quickly. In the warmer temps I mix 1/2 and 1/2 with pure water and the w5 together which makes it last longer. Little tip: I buy a small bottle like from cleaning spot and put that in my pouch all the time so as when there are doors to clean (and some leaded) if the customer is in I cloth the door with the w5 as the custy doesn't want water in the floor when they open it and pay me... ::)roll
Hope it helps.  ;)

depends how bad the leaks are, i have 1 like that so i brush the glass with the water off then stand back and hold the brush above and away from the window and spray it down so its just like rain hitting it & jobs a good un
