Did it look like this Gav ?
I phoned supplier to ask if this was the norm , he then checked his records to find that my hose was 2 year old , my how time flies !
I paid up for another 100m of same 6mm hose , been on a year now with no probs , i think i must have delaminated the original by overstretching it whilst warm !

i used an orange hose called flexibore 8mm had it 3 years 2 years using hot, and i mean red hot when i do fasier cleans, never swelled or burst. got it from xline , i hope i can stil get it as my second real has pure freedom hose and i hate it, so stiff and hard to use
