A job where you basically don't use your brain is never going to give you complete satisfaction. Gotta keep that brain ticking with a night class or two in my opinion

I'm mates with an ex RAF, Jumbo Jet pilot and we sometimes go running together.  When we plan a run sometimes he's like, "Aw 'poo', I can't make it that weekend, I'm in flippin' San Fran Sisco" as if it's a right pain in the chuff.  He complains about being bored, stuck in hotel rooms and just eating junk to kill time.

He's subject to random alcohol and drugs testing; so drinking to kill time is a no no for him (he's had a problem with this in the past).

I know window cleaners happier in their work than what he is.

Life satisfaction is more important than job satisfaction.

I think I have total satisfaction in my job, I do enjoy cleaning windows as most of my round is by the sea, and some inland on farms etc, but admittedily the winter is a bit testing but the summertime is amazing, I used to work in a factory earning fairly good money but now my window cleaning earnings have totally gone above what I used to earn, I come home and feel great from breathing in fresh air everyday as oppose to factory dust and dirt, and I can honestly say that I have job satisfaction a few of my old work colleagues see me out and about whilst they are still moaning at home thinking what if I could leave and do something or have the balls to.

I have employed people in the past who have left for a job on less money, just because they did not like to tell people that they were a window cleaner.

I haven't cleaned a window in years, when people ask me what I do I tell them that I'm a window cleaner. If they don't respect that they are not worth talking to anyway.

sad but true, i remember once telling a girl what i did for living and she pull a weird face at me. :-\ When i met my girlfriend i didn't tell her what i did for a while when we were going out but lucky for me she wasn't a snob when she found out.

We live in a very superficial world were people have lost there judge of character. The proof is do people know what good quality clothing is or do the have to check the label. The people also want to see our label and cannot judge you for what values  you  aspire to, only by what you do. This modern world were very little works the way it should. People have become afraid of face to face contact they will brake up with there boy friend by text rather than do it face on.If we were smart we would not accept  a cancelation by text only, face to face or talking on the phone.

I couldn't careless what people think in terms of me being a window cleaner. I'm quite happy and to me, that's all that counts.

In summer especially, doing places up on the South Downs or next to the coast where I live, can't beat it.

Not so much fun in winter but even then, I'd rather be window cleaning than working in an office or in a factory.
Just chant..... Hare Krsna, Hare Krsna, Krsna Krsna, Hare Hare, Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare. It's beats chanting Tory Tory or Labour Labour.

I get a huge sense of satisfaction when I turn a green house into a white shiny place! Real satisfaction. Maintenence cleans are dull though and don't do much for me.

But, I definitely do think that people will think less of me as a window cleaner. It shouldn't bother me, but it does. Especially in my recent experience with authority. People have preconceptions. In my defence, when I was at school my dad was a windowcleaner and I did get grief about it.

Well done Soapy Souter on your attitude.

Tosh, did you read "Grounded" in thr Big Book? Point your friend towards it if he hasn't read it.

You just need vents, we only want the technique. Most houses have 'em ;0)
