i keep it simple.if its a dirty first clean then double my maintenance clean price.

if its a first clean and the windows are pretty clean then normal maintenance clean price.

i dont take on one offs ever.

so for example you quote a 4 bed detached at £25 but the windows are dirty (not been done in a year hence they have called you for a quote ) are you going to charge them £50 and expect them to swallow that ?

OR

the neighbour of a regular customer asks for a one off clean because they are selling/ end of tenancy / family visiting, whatever the reason etc. you are going to turn it down just out of  principle ?

I'm not saying this is right or wrong, just merely an observation.
Perhaps you have a full round and dont need the work.

To the original poster, no offence to you but if I was a prospective customer of yours and started having those terms laid on me before you had even cleaned my windows I would probably wait for the next window cleaner that knocked on my door and see what they had to offer ( I bet they would not ask for one clean in advance )

poshgravie if it was a 4 bed detached and the windows were really bad but i wanted the job in that area then i would probably waive first clean price.

on smaller domestic then yes i would double it if really bad.

i dont do one offs mate ever unless i have time which i normally dont!!! ;D ;D ;D

if i do its double price and money up front.

Yes. Yesterday I charged £60 first clean then £30 8 weekly. And that is fair because they will take me at least twice as long first clean.

Thanks for the reply's guys...

For the record, I do not go looking for work as we are flat out, only take on work where we are already in that area.

So... today we got asked to price a new house, my regular price would have been £10. But I quoted her a first clean price of £20, and £10 there after if regular.

Landed the job - so far so good  ;)

Good idea James i am going to charge 50% more for first cleans as from next week , It is not as much of a shock to custys as charging double .

But will soften the blow for me when spending twice as long on first cleans . Mike

I was a bit nervous to be fair. Its only a little house, I felt like a con artist  ;D But explained that should you wish to continue as a regular then the price will be halfed, and they agreed.

Why oh why havent I used this method for the last 9 years  :D :)

Genuine customers wont mind I just explain first cleans take longer to clean
And tell them if you dont like it then go elsewhere as im not intrested in messers .
