protecta-kote alternative
« on: January 09, 2013, 05:32:57 pm »
evening chaps.  i put protecta kote in my van about 18 months ago now and its starting to come off or wear thin in certain parts.  according to the instructions you need to use the tin up after a few days so it means i would have to buy a whole new tin just to touch it up.
a few people have recommended other more expensive options.  i like the idea of knowing it is 100% waterproof and not going to wear out any time soon.  at the moment i cant help but worry some of the pure water is working its way through my metalwork

I bought a large rubber mat that covers the van floor which cost £15, it stops the protectakote getting chipped .

I did it on the cheap and bought some kitchen vinyl flooring over a ply lined van. Cost me a tenner, works ok.

like the idea of the mat. wonder if you could use some flash band to form a water proof seal

Tbh your not using salt water in your van, so i doubt there would be much damage from having pure water about :-/
