Is there a way of identifying what kind of membrane my newly acquired 40 inch RO has from its housing?
 
My son bought it from purefreedom 2 to 3 years ago as part of one of their van set ups, but they weren’t able to inform me as to its identity from their customer records.

It does say on the housing that the maximum working pressure is 225 psi if that’s any help.

What kind of membranes (HF4, HF5, are there any others?) were purefreedom supplying in their 40” RO’s towards the end of 2009, start of 2010?

Does anyone have one from that time period?

Can't you just slide it out from the housing and have a look which one it is ?
Should be on the membrane?

All the ones i've seen have not been definatley identifiable.

When I last changed my membrane it had HF4 written on it

The best way to buy a 4040 membrane is to look at your water supply, and not replace like for like. What suited the previous owner may not be suitable for you, even if you live in the same town with the same water supply.

It all about water pressure as to whether you choose an HF4 or HF5. Water pressure changes even within the same town.
