Has anyone used a debt collection agency or county court for outstanding money, I'm owed £700 and having trouble collecting it. Don't want to use any underhand tactics as want to keep it reasonably civilised? What are the costs involved?

It will cost you about £35.00 which gets added onto the customers bill. It is a county court judgement that you will get against them which will severly affect the customers credit rating.
Tell them you are going to do this unless payment is made in full within 7 days.
It is very simple to use, I have done it several times.

i have used small claims court to retrieve several outstanding debts of about £400, i think at the time it was about £30 if you win you get that back plus any other costs and interest, it's quite easy and i have won each time.
