I understand how the grippamax is fitted and that it has a honeycomb tank etc.

What is the difference between how both are fitted to the van?
Has anyone had the GrippaPro fitted?

I was thinking the same as far as i can tell the only difference is its just  standard mobile baffled tank and not there own honeycomb one. you can still have ti fitted.. which becomes very appealing to me to be fitted professionally on the doorstep proper cage etc.

And if you wanted to 'Honeycomb' your tank you could do as a mate of mine has done and coil inside some landscaping drainage pipe which would completely 'Baffle or Honeycomb' the tank.

Grippapro is not crash tested and is similar in fitting to Purefreedom systems, ie. through floor and small spreader plates.
Grippamax is the crash tested system (made largely by Gardiner's way back when it was called SuperZero)

As Dave says, the GrippaMax is fixed through the floor with spreader plates. My guess is that the main difference is with the tank which being honeycombed will make the water react in a different way to a regular tank.

That seems to be how the GrippaPro is fitted, with spreader plates and bonded. I understand that it does not have a MIRA test but exactly what is the difference with how the GrippaPro and the GrippaMax are secured?

They really are quite different.

The Grippapro is the same as many supplied units, i.e. a steel frame over a standard Wydale tank and as such has a small 5-10mm gap between the tank and frame on all sides and is bolted through the floor with spreader plates.

The GrippaMax is quite a different beast altogether, although the baffled (it's not honeycomb just plastic sheets bolted together in circles) tank is provided by Wydale it is a custom produced unit held in place by two very substantial bars front and rear and two very substantial (get the idea) steel straps running front to back and integral to the moulded tank. The end result is a tank held firmly in place on all sides without any gaps. This is then bolted and bonded (strong adhesive) to the floor with spreader plates.

If you want a professionally engineered crash tested system go for the GippaMax, to be honest I don't think there's a great deal of difference in the price.

I actually have both units sitting in my garage.

It is more than just the tank it is the quaity of fitting of he GrippaMax that makes it superior.

I have a GrippaPro and its great it does the job perfectly. I had it fitted by Grippa which helped with the van insurance.
