Why are you getting rid of the Merlin? Usually it is because of production quality or waste water amount. The Merlin RO does what it does very well but does have certain limitations. Are the EZ-Pure Commercial RO units 'better'?

Well they are different:

Pros of the EZ-Pure:
1.The EZ-Pure Kits units will usually produce more water than a Merlin.
2. These units also do have the advantage of being able to vary the waste ratio to suit your particular water quality.
3. They have the ability to be upgraded easily.
4. The EZ-Pure has a proper flush facility - the Merlin does not have a flush facility which means that often the RO membranes do not last as long as a membrane that has been flushed regularly.
5. The EZ-Pure units will also need the carbon/sediment filter changing less often as they have a 350,000 litre life-span (38,000 litre Merlin).
6. The EZ-Pure Kit1 is cheaper

Pros of the Merlin:
1. The Merlin has a built-in shut-off when used with a float valve in a tank.
2. It has a built-in system frame - the EZ-Pure Kit is just a set of modules.

If you have input water with a pressure of 50psi or greater then I would recommend using the HF4 EZ-Pure Kit as it will produce water faster and of better quality. If you have sub 50 psi water input then the HF5 is ideal.
