On the portables the solution hoses are usually attached to the vacumn hoses with cable ties. I notice that the truck mount hoses are kept seperate from each other, but wondered if there are operators who have joined them together for speed etc. Perhaps if they are joined they don't wind properly. Any thoughts on this?

Also are there any suppliers of this type of vacumn hoses and the soft couplings as well as the high pressure hoses.

When i was running my portable to save money i had some solution hoses made, but the crimped ends kept coming off if i used a certain carpet cleaning powder. The rubber used was black non marking, but i think not capable.

After this happened a few times, i cut the ends off myself and fixed them on myself using a ligerex tool that i happened to have. This is a hand tool that i used to use when i worked in the cable industry that tightly wraps a thinish steel band around the hose. It worked perfectly every time, and it was handy to make repairs or longer/shorted lengths.

i think you will find its because the hoses wont wind properly on the reel i remember reading that on one of the boards before.

how about running the solution hose inside the vacuum hose, like the extracta hide a hose tools?

Thats not a bad idea. You would have to fix them each end though to stop them falling too deep into the vac pipes

when using a truck mount and even a good portable.......... the suction created on the recovery hoses shrink them momentarily....... a solution hose doesnt shrink at all creating an obvious problem..........not only that but the damage to the carpet and clients other furnishings with the cut cable tie end isnt worth what ever time you think you might be saving.

some  don't tie them together because they use Hydraforces so like to keep the vac & solution line seperate.

I think also  that, porty's use 25 foot hoses, t/m's usually 50 feet.
More difficult to coil, and keep neat when tied together.

If you use cable ties on any hose it will always mark the banester rail and skirtink board corners as it slides past them
