Garden ap to RO?
« on: October 17, 2012, 08:51:36 am »
Hi  I have setup at parents (RO)

Garden tap under their kitchen window hose runs  to tank in garage.

The other month hozlelock male female connectors on garden tap blow off and soaked pathway and lawn ;D

No damage done, parents neighbour opened garden gate and turned off.

Trouble is parents will only run water when in ???

This leaves me nearly running out, nearly got into rough with mum and dad yesterday.
Their in their mid sixties and going  back to throwing teddies out of the pram :D

QUESTION: Is there any better more secure way of fixing hose to tap and if possible not to akward for my dad to disconnect to fit his hose to water lawn.
That's not much of a problem this time of year.

Ideal soliution is move and get my setup in my house not happening though :(

Their not on water metre though ;)

It could of been something as simple as the connector not being securely fitted.
My mrs has in the past disconnected the hose to clean her car (unbeknown to me).
I came home from work turned water on in garage and went back out 2 hours later to find garage floor flooded. :o
It wasn't until it happened a second time I put 2+2 together.
She had not been connecting the hose connector securely enough.  >:(

Maybe fit a second tap so as you have one for you and one for your father.

Use good quality hozelock connectors and use cable ties to make sure it can't come off. Even a bit of string to tie the connector to the tap will do.
Just chant..... Hare Krsna, Hare Krsna, Krsna Krsna, Hare Hare, Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare. It's beats chanting Tory Tory or Labour Labour.

I would split the tap into 2 as has been advised and would use brass fittings and good reinforced hose on you r/o side. We prefer to secure with o'clips although the old fashioned jubilee clips will work fine and are easily removed if necessary.
