Cleaned a carpet last week, went back today and the whole room smells really damp. Anyone have any idea why this is? Any way of correcting it? I was thinking shake and vac lol

This sounds like the issue James unfortunately. These machines which are on par with a rug doctor, cause problems like this all the time. Classic case of overwetting.

Uplift it check and remove if necessary the underlay, install air movers, treat with micro biological inhibitor. Job done
You could of course call your local friendly carpet cleaning professional and get it done properly.
