I can sort of see your thinking especially if you haven't got a clue with spanners. Get it done and get going, £800 in the grand scheme of things is not a lot of dough, it's just that you kind of know it's priced for carpet cleaners.

It's not expensive, you just can't afford it.

Takes quite a lot to knacker those big motors. If the pump is humming it sounds like the pump head has ceased.

Broken cam bearing.
Simple to rectify, remove four allen bolts holding head to motor.
align bearing with hex hole to left of centre, place a long screwdriver
into hex hole angled down, and clout with hammer, once or twice
and bearing comes loose. Unscrew and replace with

Liberally grease and re-assemble in reverse order.
You dont even need to remove any hoses.

Other technical terms are

give it some empo.

Give iiitttt some.

Give it some ommer.

Belt the B*stard.

Bash the f*ck out of it.

First rule of engineering, if it doesn't fit force it.
It you force it and it breaks it needed replacing anyway  ;D

Contrary to what you may think this is the correct method as i was instructed by Amtech.
There is no way to lock the shaft.

I was taught the following engineering basics:

Does it Move? - Yes, Should it? - No - Duck Tape
Does it Move? - No, Should it? - Yes = WD40

Cable ties and insulating tape are optional extras.

It'll be a pumphead replacement. You an do this yourself, very easy to do. Dont pay silly money for a tech to do it!! Your not a true scot if you like wasting money!  ;D

Also worth buying a pressure valve repair kit. Again, cheap enough.

All of the above can be bought at CleanSmart.

Although this vid shoes how to service the pump. The fitting stage at the end will show you how it comes off/on.

If after replacing all of that lot it still hums and does nothing it will be the motor.
Only had 1 like that before but it was a fairly new machine and was done in wty.
