Prowler water consumption
« on: September 09, 2012, 03:31:22 pm »
Does anyone know what the water consumption of the prowler is at about 400 psi using a twin jet wand with the standard 110015 jets?
I am looking at fitting a small water tank inside my van, however i have limited space and weight is an issue

Thanks chaps
Russ

Russ I can't give you exact  figures but i use a 4 jet wand  @ 300 psi and rarely fully use my 200lt water tank and on most days would get  away with 175 lts

Thanks Mike

I take it you have the same machine as me?
So how much work would 175 litres do? im looking at a water tank to use only when there really isnt any way of connecting my 150' hose pipe

Russ no but the machine makes no difference  its the psi and the jet size that equates to how much water you use.

175lt will do easily a full  3 bed house and maybe a through lounge

I've found with the pressure washing that only 1 in 10 houses don't have access to an outside water supply, I would think you could easily get away with 175lts..... more than likely you will have the chance to refill your tank.

Dont forget that a prowler will bypass and dump water when it gets hot enough and no water is going through the wand where mike uses a burner so he gets no dumping, if you are diverting to clean water tank then you'll save water but the down side is that you may ware out your pump seals and you'll be surprised how much a tm dumps.

Thats true Shaun

However if the bypass and pressure is set properly you shouldn't get the machine dumping water, i have experimented with my machine and i find that if i have the bypass open just enough... the machine never has to dump... even when i am cleaning upholstery with a tool with no bypass valve

I did my 3 bedroom bungalow incl lounge and hall.

Rooms are 16m for each bedroom, 20m2 lounge and 15m2 hall and I used about 75 litres water.

Was using a customers prowler at 400psi

As Mike said - the consumption theoretically depends on jet size together with flow rate.
In case it is of interest :-\

Jet Size        Flow @ 40psi        Flow @ 200psi        Flow @ 600psi

  01               0.1 gall p/m         0.2 gall p/m            0.4 gall p/m
  015             0.15    "               0.3     "                   0.6     "
  02               0.2      "               0.4     "                   0.8     "
  03               0.3      "               0.6     "                   1.2     "
  05               0.5      "               1.0     "                   2.0     "

Correct - US Gallons.     Multiply by 0.83 and you get it to imperial galls :-*

That's because the bypass is dumping
