Advice/help needed please - contracts
« on: August 25, 2012, 01:32:32 pm »
I'm trying to find carpet cleaning contract templates for both domestic and commercial work. I'd be very grateful if someone could send me a copy or let me know where such things can be found. Any advice/help appreciated.

PS: I posted this to the relevant section a few weeks back, no reply at all so I thought I try here.

You rarely get, or require,  written contracts, espcially not for domestic. Even if you did a template is useless because a contract is written specially for different types of jobs and customer requirements.

Thank you Simon. I am sure I could get some of my domestic customers to sign up and also want to try new commercial customers to sign a "maintenance agreement". The reason why I am after a template is because I could alter it to suit the requirements. My main problem is: I have never seen such a document so I have no clue what should be included in it. Thats why I try to find one.

For the most part they aren't worth the paper they are written on, besides which they should be written by solicitor to make sure they are within the law. People will always come back to you if you give them good service, no need for contracts to tie them to you.

I know that, you know that but some people don't. Mortgage advisors for example, who want to see some regular income, otherwise they don't even bother talking to me. Thats the only reason I want to try contracts.

I think you have used the wrong terminology

What you want is a maintenance agreement.

In my opinion you will need to be a brilliant Salesperson to get enough to satisfy a Mortgage Advisor in todays market.

How long have you been self employed.?

Do you have a substantial deposit?

Could be an interesting thread on peoples experience in The Mortgage Market but would need to be in General Section

If you've got a couple of years of accounts, then getting a mortgage shouldn't be too much hassle (providing you're showing a decent profit of course!!).

Are you a sole trader or LTD?

We are trading as a partnership, myself and my other half. We are trading for two years and the first years profit wasn't too much as we spent a lot on equipment, etc. All I want with this is increase our chance when we get to the point. Deposit won't be a problem.
Ian is right, what I need is a maintenance agreement. I know its difficult to get customers sign anything, but I have a few ideas in mind on how to "sell" these agreements. I would like to put them in practice, but I need to be able to stick some paperwork under their nose.
Is there any chance someone can help with this?

IF  you have 3 years accounts , showing rising profits ,and a decent deposit along with a credit record showing no adverse information and a few credit agreements showing you borrow ,and then pay back money ,then "contracts" become irrelevant.

THink about independent retailers , thousands of them have mortgages with no contracts showing income for further ahead than 1 hour .
