Van Floor Paints
« on: August 01, 2012, 01:34:19 pm »
Hi..

I'm looking for a waterproof paint to protect my van floor, and wondered which is the best option to go for.

As far as I can see, protectakote is just a polyurethane paint with rubber granules in to make it anti slip.. so would an alternative polyurethane paint be up to the job? (and cheaper too!)

I'd be interested to hear what others have already done and how it has lasted.  ( I don't think the anti-slip part is essential)

I've seen this paint on eBay: ebay poly floor paint

and this one @ toolstation: toolstation anti slip paint 5L

What do you reckon?

Ive got protectakote in my van, and to be honest, it aint all that.
I have rubber matting on top of the floor, to protect the paint.

hmm, interesting.. I don't need it to be mega hard wearing, and 4L of Protectakote is going to cost around £70 with VAT and postage.

All the paint does is stop the floor from rusting and fill in the small gaps to stop water getting into the chassis etc.
I cant see why poly floor paint wont do the job, but i do advise using the rubber matting

A mate of mine gave me some hard wearing rubber flooring, fitted it into the van and sealed it round the edges with silicone £2 a tube, dose the job for me :)
