Its wrong to think its lime scale. Any mild acid would remove lime on glass. Its calcium dioxide and that is another problem it needs to be cleaned with a abrasive product.The best and easiest to get is DR Power works well. Calcium dioxide will itch onto glass and a bitch to get off.Lime scale on glass can rub of with a finger,its soft and powdery .

i find its most common on kitchen windows where there is a drain under the window if that makes sense??? thanks for the replies will try that DR power

I find 000 grade steel wool with a little fairy liquid works ok
