Large covers for cleaning
« on: July 31, 2012, 10:19:41 pm »
Hi chaps. I'm having a bit of trouble finding a place that can clean sofa and armchair covers. These are unusual and are synthetic and made to snuggly fit/tie down over a sofa during delivery by a retailer.

The problem is that they are big and fairly padded and probably wont fit in a launderette machine. I need to do about 10 a week so need somewhere industrial where they can be dried too, and then me (or them) to apply a water repellent every time.

Does anyone possibly know where in either herts, beds or north london that may be able to do this? I have searched everywhere but no joy yet ???

There are normally people within an area that can handle large scale dry cleaning and if you make enquiries to the dry cleaners in the area then they will normally point you in the right direction. If not give me a call 07788621555.

I cant help (especially in your area)...however I know the type of covers you mean. I would think that any dry cleaners that can clean duvets (with the bigger washers) would be able to do these and dry them as well like what my own duvett has been done. Also I know several dry cleaning companies.....they either have the big commerciel washers or they don't.

I would expect that there would be someone in your area who can do these with large commercial wahsers and dryers.

Thanks for the replies, I forgot to mention that they need to be wet cleaned as opposed to a dry clean. Ideally some sort of massive washing machine that can take enormous loads (much bigger than a launderette).

I have a 11kg washer, you can just get a kingsize 10.5 tog duvet in,
however it is tight, a double would get in easier

You are asking questions the average laundry operative hasn't got a clue how to answer why not try to ask "what's the biggest washer you have?" you may be looking for a 35lb washer its quite big there are bigger ones also just change the way you ask that's all.

There is a laundry company in Bedford my friend uses for his hired tablecloths, they also wash the panels for the gazebos and party tents he hires out, would that be any good?

Try approaching the prison service. i had a customer
who was a guard and used to take his 10 x 8 chinese rug
into work, and have it washed and tumble dried.
You may be able to come to some arrangement.

Many thanks to all for your help! I have found someone who should be able to clean and dry them and he is only down the road from me ::)

If for some reason he can't do them then there are some great suggestions here which I will definately use!
